Intensive Russian Attacks Eliminate Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles struck the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to local officials.

Local officials said the urban area experienced heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks succeed periods of air raids in the territory, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
