Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
An important representative said the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
